The Product
The Axis 2120 Network Camera is a high quality all-in-one web server and network camera. It features a built-in network interface as well as a web-based setup and administration running a Linux based web server for reliability. Best of all there is no computer required to operate the camera once set up. The camera supports both anonymous login and user-based logins. What makes this great for security is that it features motion detection and event triggered events. For example, it can be set up to capture images when motion is detected and then e-mail those pictures to a specified address or upload them to an FTP. There are many other features, which I will elaborate more on in "The Web Server" section below.

The camera lens is a high quality 24-bit color, 1/3" Sony super HAD interlaced CCD which features backlit compensation and automatic gain control. The images and video utilize the JPEG format and feature support for resolutions of 320x240 at 30fps, 352x288 at 25fps, 704x480 at 12fps, and 704x756 at 10fps. Also featured are several levels of compression for optimum performance over whatever connection utilized.

For outdoor use the camera features a DC-Iris vari-focal lens, which features zoom of 3.5-8.0mm.

Connection options include network or dial-up. For dial-up support the camera features a RS-232 connection on the rear of the unit.
