 :: Axis 2120 Network Camera
  Testing
For testing I played around with several areas of the camera, mainly motion detection, user-login administration, web-page layout, and various network and focus settings.

The motion detection is a really great feature. It did, however, take me some time to get it setup and adjusted appropriately so that it wouldn't pick up something like the dog entering a room. Once set up I enabled SMTP mailing of the images to one of my e-mail addresses at work. Throughout the day the camera captured several instances of people moving in front of the camera and e-mailed me the pictures as I had set it up.

I also setup the site for secure access only requiring users to have a password in order to access it. That seemed to work fine.

There were literally so many settings I just had to sit down and play around with all the focus settings and image settings to get the picture like I wanted it. They all seemed to work without a problem, and overall I would say the camera produced a very high quality image. For some visuals I snapped some shots with various settings.

Gain - 28dB
Shutter - 1/60
Sharpness - 255
Resolution - 704x480
Compression - Lowest
Color - 15

Default Settings
Gain - 10dB
Shutter - 1/60
Sharpness - 166
Resolution - 352x240
Compression - Low
Color - 6

As you can see the image quality is pretty good, the pictures were taken in a room with no lighting enabled and only sunlight lighting the room.

Conclusion
Overall, I am very impressed with the Axis 2120 Network Camera. It is a great piece of technology to have if interested in any type of web-based surveillance or monitoring. The quality of the camera is very well designed and rugged and is equipped for outdoor monitoring. The camera has an abundance of configurable features as well as a built in, configurable motion detection system. It's very simple to setup and maintain and features upgradeable firmware. The only drawback I have found, however, is the price. At around $949 not everyone is going to be able to rush out and purchase this item. However, if you're looking for a very well built all-in-one web server/network camera/motion detection system, the Axis 2120 Network Camera is definitely worth looking into.
