:: PCMods Server Window Kit and the Dremel MultiPro Super Kit

Thoughts

Dremel MultiPro Super Kit:

Overall, the whole process went rather smoothly.

Using the MultiPro Dremel rotary tool to cut out the window did take a couple hours to complete as well as several 1-1/4" Fiberglass and 15/16" cut-off wheels. I would recommend purchasing a cut-off wheel pack with this kit if you use the dremel rotary tool. If you want to save time, what you might want to do is use a diamond saw to cutout the majority of the case and then use the dremel rotary tool to clean up the case. Using just the dremel rotary tool will take a lot longer but it will provide a more precise cut.

Cutting a window in a case is just one of the many uses for the MultiPro Kit. Its inclusion and support of additional bits and accessories would allow for it to be used on various other case modifications: cutting air holes, blow holes, engraving, sanding a case for painting, cutting acrylic, as well as various other projects. The variable speed makes the multipro dremel rotary tool great for being used with various materials and the flex-shaft provides for greater control and precision when working on cases and makes it a whole lot easier. I will most definitely be using this kit in subsequent mods that I do on my case.

PCMods Server Window Kit:

Overall the window kit worked great. The only problem I ran into was with the locking strip. It was suppose to lock in the groove of the window molding once placed there but I just wasn't able to make it do it for some reason. That is why I ended up gluing it. Overall gluing the strip proved to be a good idea since I ended up having to trim the molding in order to make it fit in the Addtronics 6896A case.

PCMods provides a range of window kits in various sizes. They feature rectangle, round, and oval kits in addition to the server kit. Each kit allows you to choose between red, blue, or smoked acrylic for your case. Be sure and check out their selection at pcmods.com.

If you have an Addtronics 6896A case and do not want to have to trim the molding and make additional modifications to properly fit the window in the case like I did, I would recommend going for a smaller window from PCMods.

Conclusion

The Dremel MultiPro Super Kit is a great addition to any case-modders line of tools. It features a wide range of uses and with the addition of the flex-shaft makes working precision work, or working in tight areas breeze. Whether you are into modding your case or just doing precision work around your home, the Dremel MultiPro Super Kit is great to have around.

The PCMods Server Window Kit is a great do-it-yourself kit for case-modders looking to add a window to their case. PCMods provides all materials necessary for installing the window at a very reasonable price. PCMods even does a great job in protecting the window and ensuring that you receive it scratch free. With PCMods laser-cut cast acrylic windows you are guaranteed to get a high quality window, not something somebody cut out in their backyard.
