Introduction
They're here (drumroll please...)! nVidia's GeForce4s have hit the market with a bang, and today we'll be looking at eVGA's rendition sporting the
new MX 440 chipset. This card has its sights set on the cost concious gamer with a tight wallet, while not holding back on the power. Codenames
for the chipsets get thrown around alot, just for reference though, this is the NV17 chipset.
Relatively speaking, eVGA is somewhat a newcomer to the graphics card market. Founded in 1999 and operated out of California, eVGA's product line
extends back to the nVidia TNT series of cards. They were one of the first companies to release the GeForce4 series of cards and have caught the
eye of the entire industry.
First Impressions
From the appearance of the box, this looks like a professional grade video card. The packaging is one of those HUGE clear plastic molds that holds
the card at the center. The package comes complete with drivers, user's guide, S-Video cable (for TV-out), registration card, "special offers",
CyberLink PowerDVD software, a couple of nifty eVGA stickers for your case, and most importantly, THE CARD.
It's too bad AGP cards mount upside down in a standard tower case. Looks like companies are putting more time into heatsink/fan designs on the
GeForce4 cards, but once in your system you'll only see it by sticking your head inside the case. Very impressive none the less.
