Installation/Use:
Installing
a power supply is very easy and quick depending on the case that
you are installing it into. Since every case is different and there
are many out there the best advice I can give you is to unplug the
power supply from the wall, and start unscrewing the screws that
connect the power supply to the case.. The entire operation is very
simple and the only tool you'll need is a phillips screwdriver.
To take out
my old power supply I had to unscrew the bracket from the case that
was hold on by 4 screws. After I had un-screwed the bracket from
my case I was finally able to free the old power supply from my
case and was now ready to install the new Enermax power supply.
Enermax is
well known for very long power wires that are usually made for large
server cases. I was lucky that I had the Antec SX1030 server case,
so the power wires did not clutter up my case too bad. If you have
a small or mid size tower, I would think about a different power
supply, or come up with a creative way to arrange the power cables
so the excess length doesn't cause clutter in your case.
As I mentioned before, Enermax
power supplies are made primarily for larger cases, such as the
ones many servers reside in. Because hard drives and the motherboard
are usually mounted towards the bottom of server cases, they come
equipped with extra long motherboad and drive power cables to extend
to the bottom of these larger cases.
Use:
As an avid
gamer, OC'er, and case modder I tend to "use" a lot of
power in my PC. I have neons, a few hard drives, lots of case fans,
along with an excessive amount of gadgets that I hook up to my computer.
Throughout
my testing and use of this power supply I had no power issues. Occassionally
when you have too many devices hooked up to your power supply you
might notice an increase of BSOD's, random crashes etc. This instability
might not be directly related to a power issue, but it could be
a cause. Thus having a power supply with enough wattage to push
whatever you need would take the power problem out of the question.
Here our a
few pictures of me installing the PSU, and it installed in my case:
Let's move onto
the conclusion. . .
