 :: IDE RAID Comparison (MegaRaid IDE100 & FastTrack100 TX2)
  Product Overview
The AMI MegaRaid IDE100 is the latest IDE Raid card offered by AMI. It features RAID0, RAID1, and RAID1+0 support. It is compatible with ATA66, ATA100, and EIDE and features two separate channels each with support for two drives. It features bootable IDE RAID support and comes with management utilities.

The Promise FastTrak100 TX2 is one of the latest IDE RAID cards available from Promise's line of IDE RAID cards. It features RAID0, RAID1 support, but not RAID1+0. It features ATA66, ATA100, and EIDE compatibility. It includes management software.

Installation
Installation of each RAID card was relatively simple. Basically, I installed it in a PCI slot, entered the setup and configured the card. Each card features a quick setup option that automatically sets up the card with the recommended settings.

Here is a screenshot of the AMI setup utility

From the screenshot you can see the various setup options. There is one auto config option for each RAID level as well as settings for stripe size and enabling drive array bootability.

The above picture is that of the Promise setup utility. The configuration provides for auto setup, or manual setup of an array, as well as the ability to adjust advanced features like stripe block size.

Each controller also comes with its own systray program, which constantly monitors the array to ensure consistency and alert you of any degradation
