The Product
The Max 8 DBS+5 is basically a hybrid surge protector. One of the things that makes it so special is its SurgeGate Plus Circuitry. To put it in simple terms, SurGate Plus Circuitry is an enhanced power monitoring system that protects your electrical components against long periods of over-voltages, brownouts, and surges. It does this by monitoring the power and disconnecting the power from your components while the power is bad. It then reconnects the power automatically when the power returns to a safe level, thus saving your components.

The Max 8 also utilizes Panamax's Signal Perfect Circuitry for the telecom outlets. The Signal Perfect Circuitry utilizes solid state SIDActor's and auto-resetting PTCR's. In case you are not aware, SIDActor is a transient voltage suppressor, which is manufactured by Teccor. PTCR is a component which provides protection for telephone equipment. What makes the Max 8 so special is that the PTCR's are auto resetting. Unlike some PTCR's, which will open during a surge and then require resetting, the Max 8 PCTR's automatically reset.

The Max 8 provides four coaxial connections. The first two sets are optimized for satellite, and the other two sets are for cable or HDTV.

Included on the Max 8 is a switch which allows you to turn on and off power to four of the eight outlets, the other four are always on making for great configurability.

Included on the Max 8 are four indicator lights Ground Ok, Line Fault, Power On, and Unsafe Voltage. Each, I believe, is self explanatory as to what they show.
