:: Polk Audio AMR90 Four Channel Surround Sound Speakers

Installation
Installation of the AMR90 was pretty simple; the only part that was confusing was which wire on the speakers was positive and which was negative so as to properly connect it in the back of the subwoofer. The manual said to follow the color coding and displayed one wire as being black and one white, yet they were both white, and the only difference was one had dashes on it. I assumed the wire with dashes was negative and hooked it up accordingly.

Note: December 12, 2000 - Polk Audio contacted me concerning the discrepencies in the manuals and told me that it had been fixed. They also told me that the wire with the dashes on them was acutally the positive polarity wire. This said, I will have to hook up the speakers again and see how they sound. I thought the sound was good with the wire polarities crossed, cant wait to see how they sound with it. :) Sorry for the mixup.

Testing

  • Pentium III 1Ghz
  • Intel 815e Motherboard
  • 128MB PC133 RAM
  • Maxtor 7200RPM 30GB
  • Monster Sound MX400
  • Geforce2 GTS

For testing purposes I thought it best to play a wide range of CD's from classical to Rock as well as games like Counterstrike and No One Lives Forever. I also had some other people listen to the speakers to see what they thought. We found the music was sharp and clear, and the bass was especially good for the size of the subwoofer. When I told them the price, they were especially impressed at the quality for the price.
