Closer Look
Let's take a closer look at the physical aspects of the FC-PGA 1GHz processor.

I apologize for the thermal grease in the top processor photo. I neglected to take a picture of it before I installed it into my system.



Taking a look at the top of the processor is the die area. Incorporated into the die is an on-die thermal diode that allows for the monitoring of the temperature of the processor, that is if your motherboard has the built-in support.



Taking a look at the bottom of the processor there are 14 capacitors and 370 pins. The number of capacitors will be reduced beginning September 22, 2000 from 14 to 8. This change will affect all cC0-stepped processors.
