Packaging: Yes it came in a nice shiny plastic tin. Was this indicative of the mousing surface’s performance in any way shape or form? Not at all. However, the tin did come in extremely handy as I used it as a makeshift nightstand while I recovered from my recent abdominal surgery. For this I was extremely grateful to have the tin box. I think most would find a price tag a few dollars cheaper much more exiting thoughConclusions: The sUrface1030 is one of the better mousing surfaces on the market. The surface itself is great, whether you prefer a textured or smooth mousing surface, the sUrface1030 will provide for you an excellent experience. The minor problems with the base and cord clip make me stop short of calling it the best package out there on the market right now. Give me the smooth side with a bottom with the grip of the base and I’d be hooked for good. Bottom line: The sUrface1030 is a good product that any serious gamer should consider when investing in a mousing surface. If you don’t have a cluttered desk like me I’d say it’s a definite buy. Editor's note - Apr. 3,2001 - The sUrface 1030 is still on my desk and has replaced my Ratpad and Everglide Giganta as my gaming surface of choice.
