Features
The Visor has an infinite number of features. Using the hot sync, you can compile info from your computer to the Visor. This enables users
to download text versions of their favorite web pages and email. You can even download E-Books! The most fantastic feature is the springboard
slot. Demonstrating the diverse functionality of the Visor, eyemodule image capture module from IDEO and a radio module from CUE Corporation
combine high-quality audio with personal messaging are innovative examples of the many capabilities made possible by the Springboard slot.
In the second quarter of 2000, Xircom will begin offering Ethernet, 56K modem, GSM, PDC, Bluetooth and 802.11 wireless LAN Springboard modules.
This enables the Visor to be infinitely expanded. Springboard modules can actually over-ride the Palm OS and turn the Visor into virtually any
device. The Visor is hot swappable. This means the user can plug the springboard in anytime they wish and pull it out anytime without it crashing.
There are numerous springboards out for the Visor now including a Handspring modem, 8mb flash module, a backup module, and even Tiger Woods PGA
Tour Gold.
In addition, the Visor is 100% plug and play. The hot sync cradle comes in USB or serial forms. The Visor is the only PDA with USB
capabilities. A company called http://www.innogear.com, plans to bring the Visor a line of Springboards within the next 6-7 months which include
the *MiniJam MP3 player, sixpack combo card, and the Infomitt. These products can turn your visor into anything from a pager to even a digital
music player. The Visor standard comes with the same features, but only has 2mb of memory and is only available in charcoal. However, the deluxe
version comes in charcoal, blue, green, clear, and orange. It looks like Apple has started a new trend.
