Briefing...
In a daring raid on a US biological black ops facility on Friday, March
30th, unknown terrorists have obtained a quantity of a virus known as
"Shiva." This virus has been engineered to destroy dense population
centers. The virus eventually mutates into a harmless form and so dies out
after a few weeks. However, it is 100% fatal to anyone who contracts it in
the first two weeks of the virus's life. Symptoms appear after a week and
in two weeks the victim is dead. There is an antidote for the virus but the
formula and the three scientists who know the formula were also taken from
the black ops facility.
The terrorists have threatened to release the virus in a populated area of
the United States on Sunday, April 1st, unless their ransom demands are met.
The US government's options are limited. One, they could wait out the
terrorists until the virus becomes harmless. Two, they could meet the
ransom demands. Three, they could destroy the terrorists and recover the
virus and the rescue the scientists.
Option one is unacceptable since the terrorists will release the virus long
before it becomes harmless. Due to a policy of not giving into terrorist
demands, option two is not politically acceptable. In addition, it's
believed that these terrorists are using the threat of releasing the virus
as a distraction to help them get the scientists and the formula for making
more of the virus out of the country. We don't believe that meeting the
ransom demands will end the threat.
Fortunately, the whereabouts of the terrorists has recently been discovered.
They are hold up on private land in central Missouri. It is believed that
they are waiting for co-conspirators to arrive and fly them out of the
country. Due to favorable wind conditions and the relative remoteness of
the area, it's believed that striking the terrorists now is our best option
since the potential spread of the virus would be limited even if the
terrorists managed to release it.
The goals of the strike team is simple: take out the terrorists, recover the
virus intact and rescue the scientists.
The only known antidote to the virus is in the hands of three scientists.
The terrorists may be working to produce the antidote as a safeguard for
themselves. You will be given a full briefing at 0900 hours on Saturday
March 31st.
Once the operation has begun, biological warfare units will be deployed to
seal off the area. No one will be allowed to leave until it's been
determined that the virus has not been released. Additional tactical
resources are being made available to ensure that even if you should fail in
your mission, the terrorists will not be neutralized.
Depending on how late the games go, there will be a campfire and a chance to
sit and talk about the day's games.
Sunday, April 1st morning
This will be free-form and dependent on who's still around and what people
are interested in doing: CQB, shootouts at 5 paces, etc. If you have an
idea, bring it with you and we'll see about running it at this time.
